Bye Bye Binkies

Today is the first in Operation: Extract the Pacifier. Last night it took Kallin a long time to fall asleep which is very unusual for him. We could hear him playing in his crib. He wasn't crying or anything so we just left him and figured he would fall asleep when he was ready.

I went in to check on him when I was heading to bed and noticed that all of his 6 pacifiers were on the floor next to his crib. I almost picked them up and put them back in his crib with him, but I hid them instead. I figured that if he can fall asleep without them, then why should he have them? So we decided the time has come to say good-bye to the pacifiers.

He asked for it a couple of times this morning, but was not too upset when I told him they were gone. I put him down for a nap and he cried for a few minutes (not at all like him) so I went in his room, rocked him a bit, sang him a song, put him back in his bed and left. I haven't heard him since.

We'll keep you posted on how successful we are....

Good luck with that. Weaning from anything is a challenge and means you need to be on your A game not to cave. You can do!! I've decided Laney can keep her kiki (our word for binkie) as long as it keeps her from chewing on her clothes. Yuk! See you tomorrow. = >

That's awesome Celeste! It's always nice when the child decides when they are done...
